I designed the Fleur Vest because I wanted a piece that would layer over my much loved dresses and blouses during colder months, but also I wanted it to be wearable on its own paired with your favourite lived in jeans.

Since starting GoldFreckles my pieces have always had a sleeve focus but for this piece I didn’t want sleeves. How would I translate the feel of a GoldFreckles woolly in a piece without its signature sleeves, one word : Texture. I focused on how I could create drama with big stitches & volume, and that’s how the beautiful bell shaped base of the vest appeared. To balance the chunkiness of the bottom half of the vest, I knew I needed a dramatic neckline, I LOVED the roll neck, I instantly went to it first but I also got drawn towards a funnel neck, deciding in the end to make both available. The piece looks amazing in just one colour but I found adding a contrasting colour made it even more of a ‘fun’ design, & fun equals joy and the world needs more JOY!
