Say, hello to a new member of the GoldFreckles pattern family, the Miss Penelope Cardigan.

I have always loved cable knitwear & I’m so happy to launch my first cable piece. When I designed this woolly, I wanted to combine vintage cable with the key characteristics of GoldFreckles, so it had to be fun, it had to be chunky and of course with conversational sleeves. Miss Penelope starts off a loose fit at the hem before being shaped at the armhole edge seams, that gives a beautiful fit. Even though this pattern has inset sleeves, I have still managed to create the classic GoldFreckles balloon-shaped sleeves. I have then finished it with a round neckline and button up fastening, I think I’m in my button era (see last few makes). Obviously when you think cable you think classic cream colours but this piece is something else in a pop of colour and I just can’t wait to see what colour you make her in…. happy knitting!

I am myself a self-taught knitter and I have created all my patterns with that in mind, adding extra descriptions and imagery to help guide you through the process. I use my Instagram platform to make video content that will aid you through some of the key techniques featured in my patterns. How long will it take to knit : 20-30 hours but if you have knitted before then it could be faster.

Sizing : Pattern is available to make in eight sizes from a UK size 8-22.

Skill Level : This is an intermediate level knitting pattern and the techniques you will need to know are cast on, knit, purl, picking up stitches, making buttonholes, using a cable needle and increasing & decreasing stitches.

Needles : Straight Needles : Size 6.5mm & 5.5mm. 1 x DPN/Cable Needle : Size 6.5mm. Circular Needles : Size 5.5mm 80cm (Not used in the round, used back and fore).

Gauge/Tension : Approx. 14sts and 18 rows to 10 cm x 10 cm (4”x 4”) square over stockinette stitch on 6.5mm needles.

Yarn : 1 x strand of bulky weight + 1 strand of lace, held together throughout make. Amounts & recommended yarns available in pattern. Yarn used in image is Gepard Puno in Bright Red 334 + Sandnes Tyne Silk Mohair in Scarlet Red 4018.
